If you ask a child to say the first thing that comes to mind when they think of Easter, I’m guessing the word “chocolate” will be on their lips…literally.
This word alone conjures up feelings of joy and deep satisfaction and is one of the sensations most reliably able to cause pleasure in people. Sweetness is detected by tiny receptors at the tip of the tongue, a super sensory muscle which, in Jin Shin Jyutsu, has a lot to do with Spleen energy. The energetic function of the spleen is to transform food into energy and amongst other things, it helps with formation of blood, the immune and central nervous systems. Spleen energy also helps create our skin; our ‘container’. When this is strong, everything inside it is taken care of.
In addition, the attitude (emotion) of WORRY relates to spleen energy. Worrying and over indulging in processed sweet foods, both contribute to disharmonised Speen energy which may then lead to physical symptoms.
As you may remember in the previous post, at the basic level, we can harmonise the attitude of worry, and also spleen energy, by holding our thumb; individually or both together.
We all love chocolate! I can’t deny it, I LOVE it and, like so many, also have a bit of a sweet-tooth. Over the years I’ve come to realise that worrying only makes it worse so Instead, I held my thumb which helped me move way from those cravings. Then, I came to the awareness that it is about quality not quantity. Go organic and raw foods give energy to our body so now I can eat sweet and not WORRY!
Have fun at Easter, make good choices with the sweet stuff and hold your thumbs LOTS!
